Our green lungs are in danger.
Help us to protect the Amazon.
The Amazon rainforest is the green lung of our planet and incredibly important for the global climate. Unfortunately, however, it is increasingly threatened by deforestation. Only together can we protect it. Help us NOW!
Did you know that?
- The Amazon rainforest covers almost five percent of the earth and more than a third of South America. If it were a state, it would be the seventh largest country in the world.
- Around 30 million people live in the Amazon region, 2.7 million of whom are indigenous natives. A total of 220 different indigenous peoples live in the Amazon.
- Thousands of rivers flow through the area, including the Amazon, the world's most water-rich river.
- 20% of the world's oxygen is produced by the Amazon.
- The rainforest is also the world's pharmacy: 25% of modern medicines contain ingredients that come from the rainforest. 70% of plants that can prevent cancer are only found in the rainforest.
What is S.O.N.N.?
S.O.N.N. stands for "Save our nature now.". We are a Brazilian environmental protection association founded in 2019 by Andree Korthals and Werner Mayr with the aim of protecting the Brazilian rainforest from increasing deforestation. In addition to protecting the rainforest, S.O.N.N. also carries out beach clean-ups and campaigns for animal welfare. Above all, the protection of the laying beaches for sea turtles is very important to the association.
How can you help?
You can use S.O.N.N. buy rainforest plots of 2,528 m² each for € 800 and thus protect them from deforestation. You will receive an official and notarized certificate for the purchase of your personal protected area. Other documents include the exact coordinates of your plot and a donation receipt. The area you buy will be protected for 99 years.
Achieved so far.
So far 10.000.000 m² directly protected from deforestation. This protected area will be extended by a further 40,000,000 m² in the coming months.
Our supporters.
Control of protected areas.
We ensure the protection of our stock through various measures. As we are partly on site in Brazil and benefit from a very good local network, we have short distances that enable us to manage the control ourselves. We also work together with the Brazilian environmental authority IBAMA to jointly improve rainforest protection. In future, we will also be patrolling our protected areas with our own vehicles. Regular drone flights over our areas will also give us an overview of the current status and developments in the rainforest from the air and, if necessary, we can send our patrols directly to the relevant areas to take action. Over the next few months, we will also be building stations from which we will have an even better opportunity to guard and regularly monitor the rainforest.
